Frequently asked questions.

  • -Every item is handcrafted with care right here in the USA. We're a small, woman-owned business proud to create quality gear for adventurous dogs.

  • BioThane® is the brand name of all coated webbing products made by BioThane Coated Webbing Corp right here in the USA.

BioThane® is a polyester webbing with a TPU or PVC coating that makes it flexible even in cold weather, is durable, waterproof, and easy to clean.

BioThane® looks and feels like leather but is more durable and easier to maintain.

  • -Measure your dog’s neck using a soft measuring tape or a length of string. The collar should be snug enough to fit two fingers between your dog's neck and collar.

  • -Stainless steel hardware is your best bet—it laughs in the face of salty water and won’t rust, no matter how many splash attacks you launch.

-Brass is another solid choice (not Antique Brass) —it won’t corrode, but it might get a little “beachy” (aka tarnished). No worries, though! A little brass cleaner will have it shining like a fresh seashell.

-No matter what hardware you rock, give it a quick rinse after your ocean adventures. Saltwater is no joke! Now go chase some seagulls!

  • BioThane® is tough, but not chew-proof! For safety, never leave your dog unsupervised while leashed.

  • Trigger snaps are heavier than snap hooks, especially in brass or stainless steel. If weight is a concern, consider opting for lighter hardware to keep things comfy.

  • BioThane® is built for adventure and easy to clean, making it the perfect choice for pups who love to get messy! Follow these tips to keep your gear looking its best:

    Everyday Cleaning

    • Wipe down with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grime.

    • Add mild soap if needed.

    • Rinse thoroughly and dry with a towel, or let it air dry.

    Tackling Tough Grime

    • Use a soft bristle brush with a bit of baking soda for stubborn spots.

    • Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasives, or excessive heat—these can damage the material.

    Special Care Tips

    • Chemical Exposure: If your BioThane® comes into contact with strong chemicals (like DEET), clean it immediately to prevent damage.

    • Flea Collars: Do not pair BioThane® collars with flea collars, as the chemicals can cause damage.

    • Saltwater Use: Rinse thoroughly after ocean or beach adventures to protect both the material and hardware.

    Brass Hardware Notes

    • BioThane® paired with brass hardware may develop slight discoloration over time due to the natural tarnishing of brass.

    • To lighten these marks:

      1. Mix lemon juice with baking soda or salt to create a paste.

      2. Apply gently with a soft cloth to the stained areas.

      3. Rinse off, repeat if necessary, and dry with a cloth.
